Guided Walking Tour The Hague

The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government. It also boasts many international institutions, such as the International Court of Justice. The Hague originated around 1230. It has a history of origin that differs from that of other Dutch cities. Most Dutch cities have emerged as trade settlements at a crossroads of trade route (mostly rivers). The Hague was different. It originated as a residence of the Count Floris IV. The Ridderzaal is still intact and in use by the Dutch government.
Around 1830 Amsterdam became the capital and The Hague kept the government. City life concentrates around the Hofvijver and the Binnenhof. Parliament is here located and most of the Ministries are nearby.
The Hague also has a flourishing international scene and nice shopping area.
